Esquisse of Golden Crutches (Daedalus)
The wings of Icarus and Daedalus in Greek mythology correspond to "prosthetic devices" attached acquiredly to overcome human physical limitations. Therefore, as a realistic structure of organisms, the body parts for walking will be removed, and auxiliary skeletons and muscles for attaching wings will be added. Eventually, unlike the smooth-born angel's bodies, Icarus and Daedalus' bodies will have poor and unbalanced physical conditions at the same time as they gain flight capabilities. As if wearing a golden crutch, the wings soon become an elegant aid for a body that cannot fly and a prosthetic device that proves its unstable physical condition.
<황금 목발> 에스키스 (다이달로스)
그리스 신화의 이카루스와 다이달로스의 날개는 인간의 신체적 한계를 뛰어넘기 위해 후천적으로 부착한 ‘보철 장치’에 해당한다. 그러므로 현실적인 유기체 생물의 구조로서는 보행을 위한 신체 부위가 제거되고, 날개를 부착하기 위한 보조적인 골격과 근육이 덧붙여질 것이다. 결국 매끈하게 타고난 천사의 몸과 달리, 이카로스와 다이달로스의 몸은 비행 능력을 얻음과 동시에 조악하고 불균형한 신체 상태를 가질 것이다. 마치 황금으로 만들어진 목발을 착용하는 것처럼, 날개는 곧 날 수 없는 몸을 위한 우아한 보조 장치임과 동시에 불안정한 신체 상태를 입증하는 보철장치가 된다.
