<Sheep box 3 (TJ)> tells the body of a companion animal as a being with an invisible body.
The author's pet dog (TJ) had a somewhat deformed body due to hernia surgery right after birth. So he can only walk on a yoga mat, have frequent digestive and bowel disorders, and have limited ways of expressing his physical discomfort. Therefore, for the artist without a veterinarian, the dog's body exists as an invisible area that causes imagination and anxiety together.
The artist pays attention to the similarities between "body" and "work" as physical beings, and looks at the work itself as an object with a body. Therefore, the artist attempts to express the dog's body state through the physical state of the work, that is, the body of the work. The four upright prosthetic devices that set the screen on the floor are disproportionately angled like the deformed legs of TJ. In addition, the gray cloth wrapped around the screen and prosthetic devices is sewn with surgical thread, which metaphorizes the experience of hernia surgery. In addition, the screen painted with watercolor paint and easily affected by moisture follows the physical health of TJ’s sensitive to the external environment.
<양상자 3 (TJ)>는 비가시적인 몸을 가진 대상으로서 반려동물의 몸을 이야기한다.
작가의 반려견(TJ)은 출생 직후 겪은 탈장 수술로 인해 다소 기형적인 몸을 가졌다. 요가 매트 위에서만 걸을 수 있고, 소화 및 배변 장애가 잦으며, 자신의 신체적 불편함을 드러낼 수 있는 의사 표현 수단이 제한적이다. 그래서 수의사가 곁에 없는 작가에게 반려견의 몸 안은 상상과 걱정을 함께 일으키는 비가시적인 영역으로 존재한다.
작가는 ‘몸’과 ‘작품’이 물리적 존재로서 가지는 유사성에 주목하고, 작품 자체를 몸을 가진 대상으로 바라본다. 그래서 작가는 반려견의 몸 상태를 작품의 물리적인 상태, 즉 작품의 몸을 통해서도 표현하고자 시도한다. 화면을 바닥에 세우는 4개의 직립 보철 장치는 반려견의 기형적인 다리처럼 불균형하게 각도가 틀어져있다. 그리고 화면과 보철장치를 여유 없이 감싼 회색 천은 수술용 실로 바느질되어 탈장수술의 경험을 은유한다. 또한 수채물감으로 그려져 습기에 쉽게 영향받는 화면은 외부 환경에 민감한 반려견의 몸 건강을 따라 한다.
