A person can’t see inside his body - even though each human is an autonomous agent of the body, visibility of his own interior anatomy remains opaque. Moreover, the narratives that can be substantiated about the internal body is limited to the physical and physiological data. Hence, the patient needs to accommodate the visual data of various organs indicated by the surgeon and illuminated by medical recording devices in order to picture the images of his body and illness. And yet, the visual gap between the actual and the perceived body is still not thoroughly resolved. Such circumstance - under which one’s own eyes and body fails to interface and cross-communicate - conveys a number of messages. The initiative to perceive and tackle the limit, i.e. imperfect understanding of the internal body, betrays the person’s helplessness stuck in such a limited circumstance. In addition, diseases without any outward symptoms make the person self-aware of his inability to properly detect the slightest hints of a disease’s onset. PB to AU &gt; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; 앞날을 점치는 과학은 유전자 치료, 사이보그 그리고 암의 종말을 노래한다. 어쩌면 이미 불안정하게 설계된 동시대인의 몸도 그런 홀가분한 신체 상태에 도달할지 모른다. 하지만 자극적인 예언은 아직 우리가 배고프고, 아프고, 늙어가고 있다는 전제를 가려나간다. 완벽하게 건강한 몸을 소유하지 못했던 모두의 경험은 예언이 특이점을 넘어가는 순간 공감의 효력을 잃어버릴 것이다. 이미 누군가의 몸이 마스크를 벗고 축구를 관람할 때 누군가의 몸은 숨이 멈춰 공터에 묻혔다. 과학의 수혜가 지구 한 바퀴를 불균형하게 뛰어가고 있기에, 나와 당신의 몸은 납(Pb)과 금(Au)의 간극처럼 멀어져 간다. 그렇기에 예언이 아직 뿌리 뽑지 못한 몸의 근본적 불완전함은 서로의 삶을 조금이라도 더듬어 볼 수 있는 수단으로 작동한다. 연금술은 보다 나은 물질 상태를 지향하는 마음이 금속의 위계 속에서 이루어진 모습으로, 금을 향해 납을 연마하며&nbsp; 불완전한 제3의 금을 발생시켰다. 그리고 보다 완성도 높은 작품을 지향하는 작가 또한 합리적인 갈망을 가진 연금술사로서 드로잉, 에스키스, 재료 실험 결과물 등을 발생시킨다.&nbsp; “PB to AU”는 이러한 과도기적인 상태의 작업물을 소환한 뒤 연금술 속 납과 금의 위계를 통해 바라본 동시대인의 몸을 초대한다. 그리고 특이점을 넘지 못한 존재들 간의 만남을 통해 홀가분하지 못한 물리적 경험을 공유하고자 한다. * 관람 유의사항 &lt;연금술사&gt;
