Faction is pleased to present 𝘽𝙤𝙙𝙮 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙛𝙞𝙡𝙚, an international group exhibition of emerging contemporary artists from South Korea, the United States, and Iran organized by young curator Dongwoo Kim. 𝘽𝙤𝙙𝙮 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙛𝙞𝙡𝙚 brings together 8 works by 4 artists, ranging from painting to sculpture and installation. The exhibition is inspired by the widespread trend of “body profiling,” which is particularly prevalent among relatively young people and is typically manifested through the display of toned physiques on social media. Body profiling has become a “self-fulfilling prophecy,” where the act of profiling images that conform to a certain standard of beauty takes precedence over nurturing physical well-being. The body is a fundamental element that runs throughout the exhibition, with individual body-related works serving to define the exhibition as a whole. 𝘽𝙤𝙙𝙮 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙛𝙞𝙡𝙚 takes a sarcastic look at the self-objectification of young people as a symptomatic phenomenon through a recursive approach. From the scent of sweat lingering in the air, to the dripping water, to the provocative imagery, 𝘽𝙤𝙙𝙮 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙛𝙞𝙡𝙚 explores the idea of the “youthful body” as presented in recent media.
